Screen Printing Methods:

Plastisol (standard screen printing method):  The standard printing method for typical screen printed t-shirts is printing with plastisol based ink.  Using this printing style is the most economical printing solution resulting in a durable print that lasts as long as the apparel it is printed on.   When our screen printers use plastisol inks the special effects are endless.   Some of the special effect inks are as follows: reflective, glitter, shimmer, glow in the dark, mirror, discharge and more. Have you ever wondered how t-shirts are printed with photo-realistic images in full color?  This screen printing process is known as CMYK or four-color process printing.   Impressionz minimum for four-color process screen printing is 72 pieces.  Are you in need of a full color screen print for fewer than 72 pieces?   If so, browse our Direct to Garment (DTG) page for more information on full color prints at smaller quantities.  

Water-based: Another screen printing option that has become very popular over the past few years is printing with water based inks.  The industry term “hand” is used to describe how soft the print feels on the decorated apparel.   All water-based prints on t-shirts have an extremely soft hand and are smooth to the touch.   Another advantage to using water-based inks opposed to plastisol is the fact that the print can be ironed and doesn’t need any special care.  Our screen printers use this printing method for our customers who are seeking a soft hand, vibrant bright colors, and are interested in very smooth flowing halftones (shading on the t-shirt).   This screen printing method is slightly more expensive due to the complexity of the printing.
